The Monarch Migration

Our Co-Op for Wednesday was scheduled as a great day at the Botanical Gardens in Grapevine to observe the monarch butterflies during their migration. Well, wouldn't you know it, the weather didn't hold out & it was raining Wednesday morning, so we all headed over to Deb's house for some monarch reading instead!

Here's all the kiddos sitting on the playroom couch, listening to a story. Check out Mrs. Deb's butterfly wings! What a great visual for the kids!!!

After story time, we headed back downstairs to the kitchen for some yummy pumpkin snacks & Halloween bubbles.

Mrs. Deb & Reese are looking for Mexico on the globe. We learned that the monarch butterflies, in their migration, head to Mexico. Lucky for us, we're right in their migration path!

As we left, the weather had turned into a heavy drizzle, so of course all the worms came out. After getting slightly soaked, Reese was finally able to pick up this worm & check it out. Reese had lots of questions about the worm. Where's his head? Why is he purple? Where is he going? What did he eat? Will he bite me? Other than the "Where is he going" question, I think I did a fair job of answering his questions!
