Abbra Cadabbra!

Inspired by a magician we saw at the library on Thursday, Reese checked out a magic book and performed his first magic trick:

As always, since we've been back from vacation, I've been bad about keeping up! In fact, I just unpacked my camera computer cord today...sheesh...

After trying to adjust to the time zone difference, we had to get ready for the cold weather again!

Reese had his first practice with his baseball team...

We had errands to run & stuck in a lunch date together along the way...

We saw Green Eggs & Ham performed by the Ft. Worth Symphony. Thanks, Alpha Buds for going with us!

This year, we had GREAT front row seats!

Another day of baseball practice, but this time the weather was beautiful!

Spring means that it's time to plant our tomatoes...

Two bushes this year with nice, big tomatoes!

Working hard to make sure they're watered well...

We also went to see Flat Stanley, The Musical with our homeschool buddies. It was a fun morning, including a stop at the park for a picnic lunch after the play!

Reese loved the big light fixture, so he asked me to take a picture of him with the lights...

It's that big upside down cone at the top :)

We also checked out some local children's artwork on display at the Irving Arts Center.

Reese's favorite pieces were the masks...

We ran errands all together. Had to get some baseball pants!

And we had another day of baseball practice...except this time it was REALLY hot outside!

I can't tell you how cute I think this little guy in his batting helmet is...

Bat. Check. Ball. Check.

And today....

We headed to the gym early for Mommy's 8:30 class and then

fun at library story time!

LookyBook: Bibliovores Beware!

Thanks to my friend Chandra, I found the greatest website called LookyBook and it is soon to become a favorite site of yours, I'm sure!



LookyBook allows you to click your way through children's books with great detail. Enough to read the book yourself & see if it's worth buying. Enough to even share with your child online & not have to buy the book! If you click on the little orange eyes at the top right corner of each book, it will take you to the LookyBook website to see a larger version of the story!

What a fantastic resource to have on hand! Granted, they don't have some children's titles. My first two searches for Where The Wild Things Are and Shel Silverstein came up empty.

BUT...there are tons of ideas they offer you, as well as a nifty search box that turned up great books when I searched for "insects" and "family."

Abraham Lincoln's birthday is coming up on February 12th. No luck finding a book at the library...everyone already checked them out? No worries! Check LookyBook...

Working on a seed study, but not sure if a Gail Gibbons book is too young for your kiddo? Flip through it, give it a look...see if it's a good fit!

Feelin Bubbly

After completing our library's summer reading challenge, Reese earned a ticket to the End of Summer Reading Party! The event was really, really cute. It was a six-station carnival type event, set up & hosted by a local Boy Scout troop. They had games that were handmade for the kids to play & win prizes at. They had face painters & musical chairs. It was so simple, but so much fun.

One of the prizes Reese liked most was a little bottle of bubbles shaped like an ice cream cone. He was a good sport waiting for Mommy to get the camera so I could take some pictures of his adorable lips blowing bubbles!
